Bau district police chief DSP Sabri Zainol (second right) returns the 4WD to a representative from the company at Bau police station.

KUCHING: The police deserved a pat on the back for their swift action in recovering a stolen vehicle within three hours on Jan 17.

The incident happened when a four wheel drive Mitsubishi Pajero belonging to a local company was stolen from Lorong 9, Jalan Arang around 12pm.

A police report was lodged at the Sungai Maong police station after the vehicle was discovered missing and the police  personnel immediately sprang into action.

“We got a call at 2.30pm from the police informing us that the Pajero was found in Serikin.

“It is amazing what the police and the strong network among the related agencies can do,” said a representative from the company.

The efficiency and commitment of the police to alert the army at the Sarawak-Indonesia border also played a vital role in the recovery of the stolen vehicle within such short a time.

“On behalf of the company, I would like to thank the police at Sg Maong and Bau for their swift action and commitment in discharging their duties,” he added.

The vehicle was handed back to the company on Thursday.
