KUCHING: A man in his 30s was rescued after he attempted to jump off the Muara Tebas village arch here today.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Petra Jaya personnel were seen using a ladder from a fire truck to reach the man, who appeared to have climbed up the 30-feet high arch.
A relative eventually managed to talk the man from Sibu out of his plan and had him rescued at around 5.14pm.
Petra Jaya station chief Muhamad Mirza Dzalmira Miraj said the department received the distress call at around 3pm, and a team of firefighters from the station were deployed.
The man has been handed over to the police for further action.
