A part of the excavator also bears burnt marks.

SIBU: The construction of the Pan Borneo Highway at Mile 40 in Skuau partially came to a halt when the contractor found parts of their machines and petrol missing on Saturday at 8.30am.

Workers discovered the theft when they could not start their excavators because the petrol was “sucked” dry.

About 560 litres of petrol was stolen.

Parts of the excavators were ripped and burnt.

The workers had left their machines by the side of the road when they finished work the evening before.

They informed their contractor’s company in Kuching and the supervisor lodged a police report.

The police are probing the case and are hunting for the thieves.
