Three arrested for alleged metal theft

KUCHING: Three individuals were arrested for alleged involvement in metal theft on Friday.

District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said acting on a tip-off by the public about a break-in incident at a commercial centre along Jalan Merbau, a team from Bintawa police station was dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival at the scene, they spotted a man in a white sedan car trying to speed off from the police.

Police, however, were quick to arrest him and nabbed two of his accomplices during a subsequent check of the premises.

Abang Ahmad added police found a metal cutter, screwdriver, pliers, crowbar, wirecutter, four dismantled aluminum door frames, two rolls of wire and four wire fuse.

The case is still under investigation.
