Hundreds students suffer food poisoning

BANJARMASIN, S Kalimantan: Hundreds of students of Antasari State Islamic University (UIN) Banjarmasin have suffered from food poisoned after eating food in female dormitory Mahad Al-Jamiah, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

“A total of 23 female students were treated at Bhayangkara Hospital and some were collected in the dormitory,” said Head of

East Banjarmasin Police Crime Detective Unit First Insp (Iptu) H Timur Yono in Banjarmasin, Tuesday.

Timur said the food poisoning was known Tuesday at around 11.30 am after dozens of victims were taken to Bhayangkara Hospital.

“The victim initially ate food on Monday night after Shalat Isya after the Quran memorizing activities held in their dorm,” he said.

Then the students returned to their respective rooms and on Tuesday morning most of the students had health problems.

“So in the morning there were taken to the hospital and some are still given help in the dormitory in Jalan Ahmad Yani Km 4.5, East Banjarmasin,” said Timur again.

On the incident, Ustadz Ahmad as Director of Female Dormitory Mahad Al-Jamiah who provides food questioned by police.

“Samples of food provided in the form of rice, egg beefsteak, and bean vegetables have been brought by the City’s Health Agency to be examined and the case is handled by the city police.
