KUCHING: Melaka-Manipal Medical College (MMMC) celebrated two decades of providing medical studies in Malaysia.
Established in 1997, it is widely recognised as one of the best medical schools in Malaysia and a source of highly proficient medical professionals in the Malaysian health system and across the globe.
MMMC’s repute stems from its incessant determination to provide excellent service including incomparable academic delivery. Awards and accolades received reflect its commitment to medical education.
MMMC’s degrees in Medicine and Dental Surgery are twin-campus programmes whereby undergraduates complete 24 to 36 months of the basic sciences (pre-clinicals) in the MMMC Campus in Manipal, India and then return to Malaysia for clinical training in general hospitals. Manipal, a deemed-to- be-University in India and considered in the top 5 there, has one of the largest Anatomy and Pathology museums in Asia with over 1000 dissected specimens on display.
MMMC students have access to this and many resources in a university environment. Resources are not limited to academia as students experience life in a vibrant setting.
To complement the success of the medical programme, the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) was introduced in 2009.
Leveraging on the Manipal’s reputation in India as the top dental school, MMMC offers Foundation in Science (FIS) where students gain entry into this exceedingly popular BDS.
MMMC’s FIS is a 1-year pre-University course completed solely in the Melaka campus to prepare students for the MBBS and BDS undergraduate studies. Course subjects include Anatomy, Physiology,Pharmacology, and Oral Biology. Students in the MBBS and BDS who have been through the FIS have given positive feedback. MMMC offers up to 100 per cent scholarships for deserving students for its FIS, and PTPTN now offers full loan of RM150,000 for MBBS.
