LAHAD DATU: The Sessions Court here yesterday sentenced a part-time guard to seven years in prison for committing culpable homicide not amounting to murder of his aunt, two years ago.
The accused, Yulius Pehang Keteng, 17, pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code, before Judge Zaini Fishir @ Fisal.
The facts of the case stated that the accused replaced his uncle in guarding the water tank in Jalan Sinar when his latter took up another job.
The accused became angry when his aunt refused to pay him his salary, and he later hid a wood at the water tank area.
On August 19, 2016 at about 6.50pm, the accused hit the victim’s head several times after she refused to pay him his salary.
The victim fell face down before the accused pulled her to the side of the water tank.
The accused later took his salary from the victim’s bag and fled the scene.
He hid at his former employer’s house before detained by police on August 22, 2016.
Investigation found that the bloodstain on the clothes seized from the accused matched the victim’s DNA. Also seized was the wood used to hit the victim.
