KENINGAU: Two students from SM St Francis Xavier will represent the school at a two-week United Nations Model Program in Sweden in March.

Form Five students Vianney Clare Jikop and Arianna Anding will go to Sweden on March 14 and stay in the country for two weeks, until March 27.

They will be accompanied by the school principal, Betty Leong and a schoolteacher, Angela David.

Both students received donations from Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) youth chief, Datuk Yamani Hafez Musa who visited and delivered a PA System to the school here yesterday.

In his speech at the ceremony, Hafez congratulated both students, and said that their being selected for the UN Model program in Sweden will make the school, Keningau as well as Sabah proud.

Hafez also pointed out that the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) is giving priority to the smart young people and students as the future country leadership.

“TN50 is more forward where government policy starts from below and the CSR TN50 that I am attending tomorrow (Saturday) is a two-way communication that is looking for ideas and aspirations that comprise young people including school students.

“We want the government’s policy to start from the bottom, from the younger generation today,” he said.

He said the young people were the TN50 generation and they were also the future leaders of the country by 2050.

Hafez said students should do a very valuable investment for themselves by learning smart and wisely.

“I believe the students have high confidence and are ready to ensure their self-esteem as a valuable investment for learning earnestly and becoming future leaders of the country by 2050,” he said.

He said teachers and parents were the educators and drivers for students to continue to succeed and excel in their studies.

Meanwhile, principal Betty Leong also thanked Barisan Nasional (BN) especially Hafez and Keningau Umno Youth chief, Nik Nazri Nik Zawawi who contributed the PA System.

She said the PA System would be used for the daily activities of the school as well as the official programs held at the school.

According to Betty, previously each time the school held official programs involving government leaders, it will use the PA System from the District Information Department as the present school PA system could not function properly.

Hafez also hoped the PA system contribution would provide basic facilities for the school to carry out its activities.

Also present at the event were Pensiangan Umno Youth chief, Jehan Osman, Keningau Division Information Department Acting Officer, Hendry Nurdin and Central Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Vice-Chief as well as Keningau Parliamentary Liaison Chief Officer, Augustine Nain.

On the same day, Hafez also donated jersey shirts and balls to the youths in two villages, Kampung Padang Tembak and Tanah Merah. In addition he also contributed RM3,000 for repairing the KEMAS Kindergarden school fence at Padang Tembak.
