KUCHING: redONE Network Sdn Bhd (redONE) recently signed a partnership agreement with the Football Association of Selangor (FAS) as one of the club’s main sponsors for the 2018 season.

This sponsorship will see redONE’s branding being carried at the front of the Home and Away jerseys of The Red Giants. The Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) company values sports partnerships as one of its communication pillars and decided to sponsor FAS due to the club’s vision of nurturing young footballing  talents.

Viewing sports as a bridge to connect people from all walks of life, redONE regards sponsorship of local sports as a means of contributing to society.

“Malaysians love watching and playing all kinds of sports, especially football. Sports has that ability to break down barriers and bring people together in support of one team. Be it international matches or domestic competitions, we stand firmly behind our favourite team. That spirit is something that we all have in common, despite coming from different backgrounds,” said redOne’s co-founder and director Ben Teh.

“We believe in FAS’ incredible track record in nurturing talent, especially the Under-21 and Under-19 youth players who met with great success last year. redONE is always supportive of new and upcoming talents who have yet to reach their full potential. Under FAS’ professional management and with financial assistance from redONE, there is nothing to stop them from attaining more than what they have achieved so far”, he added.

FAS kicked off this year with new arrangements such as re-assembling its First Team by bringing in three new foreign talents from Brazil and Indonesia.

They also promoted six players from the Under-21 team that won the President’s Cup last season to join the lead team. These developments will strengthen the lead team with a mix of seasoned and young players to play in the Super League, FA Cup and Malaysia Cup.

FAS has a long and proud history of producing some of the biggest talents in Malaysia’s football scene. Besides managing the professional First Team, FAS is also in charge of training and coaching the national youth level (Under-21, Under-19 and Under-17), futsal, women’s football and beach soccer.

Currently FAS is competing in various leagues, including the Malaysian Super League, where they are ranked sixth in the table.
