MIRI: Miri FA players are determined to fight on despite losing to Tawau at home and then away to Kuching Gedong Gators last Saturday in the Liga Bolasepak Rakyat (LBR).

They next play at home against Keningau this Saturday.

Headcoach Mohamad Hakimi Man said the two consecutive defeats have not broken the team’s spirit.

“We have to accept the previous losses and now the focus is on the remaining four games to brighten up the chance to go to the next level,” he told The Borneo Post.

Commenting on the latest defeat in Kuching, he attributed it to poor finishing despite the team playing well. “We had done a lot of attacking and we have the opportunity to score, but our strikers failed to take the advantage.

“At the same time, the mistake in the defensive line also caused the opposition to score a goal at the start of the match,” he said.

A last-minute change of venue to an artificial field also did not help their cause.

According to Hakimi, the team was ready to play at the Sarawak State Stadium as scheduled but the switch to play at Padang C affected the team’s rhythm.

Miri FA face Keningau at Miri Petroleum Recreation Club, Lutong on Saturday (Feb 10) at 4pm.
