Boarding could be boring for those who travels often, Air Asia has now introduced the F.A.C.E.S (Fast Airport Clearance Experience System) which allows passengers to have a seamless travel experience from check-in to boarding using the latest biometric facial recognition technology.
“With Faces, your face is your passport (boarding pass), making a breeze to clear the gate and board your flight,” AirAsia group Chief Executive Officer, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said in a statement. Generally, the system shorten the steps from check-in to boarding by replacing the final check at boarding gate with the F.A.C.E.S system.
User are required to register at the F.A.C.E.S kiosk with their flight details and passport present. For security reasons, user will also need to go through Passenger Reconciliation System (PRS) under the airport officer attended. After all, you can board ur flight by showing your face at the final check at boarding gate without showing the boarding pass and passport.
F.A.C.E.S has an 80 per cent identification success rate and is claimed to reduce the boarding process to between 9 and 11 minutes, from 11 to 13 minutes on an average procedure. It is Available for guests aged 18 and above, with a height of 145 to 190cm, the enrolment is a one-time process, until the identity document expires which guests will need to register again.
The system launched today is in its first phase and is only used for domestic flights. However, it is only available in Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru at the moment.
