Former bank employee gets jail term, whipping for CBT

LIMBANG: A former bank employee was sentenced to 44 months and 103 strokes by the Magistrate’s Court here today after pleading guilty of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM53, 870.64 belonging to a customer last year.

Mohamad Khusairie Fazni Aladin, 34, from Kampung Seberang Kedai pleaded guilty after the charge was read in front of Magistrate Mohd Hafizi Abdul Halim.

Mohd Hafizi also ordered the imprisonment to take effect from the date the accused was arrested on Wednesday.

The accused committed the offence at Maybank Limbang Branch here between April and June 2017. He was charged under Section 408 of the Penal Code which provides a jail term of up to 14 years, whipping and fine.

Prosecution was made by Inspector Dayang Zunaina Razali while the accused was unrepresented.

According to the brief facts of the case, the accused allegedly made online transactions without the knowledge of a woman 68, resulting in losses of RM53,870.64.
