KUCHING: Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Bumiputera Sarawak (Tegas) and the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC) will collaborate to hold a pre-accelerator boot camp.

A press release yesterday said the boot camp aims to help entrepreneurs in the state grow their unique business ideas.

It is designed to enable aspiring entrepreneurs to create their Minimum Viable Product (MVP) from validated ideas.

“We’re really excited to collaborate with MaGIC to launch this boot camp. This could be a great springboard for early-stage startups in Sarawak to fine-tune their innovative and impactful ideas further before going into the market,” said Tegas chairman Datu Len Talif Salleh, who is Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, in the press release.

“This initiative is in line with the state’s agenda to nurture talents and subsequently drive the state’s digital economy.”

Participants will consist of selected aspiring startups, winners of Shell LiveWIRE Sarawak, and the top three winners of Startup Weekend & Hackweekend.

This initiative is part of the #InnovateSarawak campaign, which is developed by Tegas with its strategic partners to promote creativity and innovation as well as provide growth opportunities for startups through strategic collaborations.

The content of the two-week boot camp will be delivered at the Tegas Digital Innovation Hub by industry experts covering topics such as customer and product development, building teams, fundraising, and pitching.

The boot camp will also prepare participants for the final pitch session to select the top three winners and a chance to join MaGIC’s Global Accelerator Programme at MaGIC Cyberjaya.

The deadline to send in applications for the programme is Feb 28.
