Juniors wrest Frank Gurkney-Ian Nash Memorial Cup

KUCHING: The Juniors edged the Seniors 47-34 to win the inaugural Frank Gurkney and Capt Ian Nash Memorial Cup at the iconic Song Kheng Hai rugby field on Saturday.

The Seniors who took to the field included Jackson Maxwell, Louis Simon Peter, Abdul Ghafar, Duncan Bujeng, Awang Zuwari, Mira Isnawan and Shaukatali Salleh.

Among those present to watch the match were Sarawak Rugby Union (SRU) president Richard Song Swee Jin and Kuching Football Rugby Club (KRFC) secretary Dick Bentham, 82-year old Titus Chuo while 79-year old Jerome Goh and his son Trevor flew in from Perth, Australia specially for the event.

Other stalwarts of the the local game such as James Ritchie, Lawrence Tan, Augustine Liom, Wan Edruce, Philip Aso, Ehsan, Lawrence Lee and Francis Sim were also among the spectators.

The event was organised by KRFC and sanctioned by SRU.

Prizes were presented by Song and Bentham.
