MIRI: Miri FA beat Keningau 3-1 in the national-level Bola Sepak Rakyat League (LBR) match at Kelab Rekreasi Petroliam (KRP) in Lutong here Saturday evening.

“We are thankful that we won for the first time after losing twice before this, and this win will give us an opportunity to compete in the group match,” a relieved coach Mohamad Hakimi Man said.

The victory was particularly satisfactory as the home team had to come from behind after Keningau led 1-0 in the first half from a 39th minute goal by Steffano Sakunir.

The Miri boys raised the intensity of their game in the second half to score through Mohamad Hadera Bakri (57th and 82nd min) and Paul Sambang (86th min).

It was the first win by Miri FA after losing to Tawau 1-0 and Kuching Gedong Gators 1-0 in away matches.

Miri FA will get their chance for revenge when they face Tawau on Feb 24 and Kuching Gedong Gators on March 3 on home ground.

Their final match will be against Keningau away on March 10.
