FAS probe match-fixing allegation

KUCHING: The Sarawak Football Association (FAS) is conducting an internal investigation after it received reports that some of the state football players were allegedly involved with match fixing.

Its president, Datuk Posa Majais, had instructed team manager Wahab Abdul Rahim to lead the internal investigation and take the necessary action in accordance with the law.

“If it is true, the players involved will be suspended from the team. FAS would also like to apologise to all its supporters for the unexpected results in yesterday’s match,” FAS said in a statement here Sunday night.

In the Premier League match at the Sarawak Stadium here on Sunday, the Sarawak team lost 2-3 to Felcra FC 3-2, despite leading 2-0 in the first half. — Bernama
