MIRI: Local traders are advised to fully comply with the Chinese New Year Festive Season Price Control Scheme 2018 when it comes to selling 13 controlled items.

Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting said it was important for traders not to sell the 13 listed items above the ceiling price as determined by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) so as not to fall foul of the law.

“The scheme started on Feb 10 and will continue until Feb 21. It is hoped the traders give their cooperation and comply with the requirement of the scheme in conjunction with the upcoming CNY celebration,” he said after launching the scheme at Boulevard Hypermarket here yesterday.

Through his personal observation, Ting said he was happy to note that most traders here have complied with the price control scheme by selling the 13 listed items at below the ceiling price.

KPDNKK Miri head Joe Azmi Jamil, Miri Resident Sherrina Hussaini, managing director of Boulevard Hypermarket & Departmental Store Sdn Bhd Raymond Lim and operations manager of Boulevard Hypermarket & Departmental Store Sdn Bhd Tok Chin Huat were among those present at the launch.

The 13 essential festive season goods listed under the CNY scheme comprise various types of chicken, eggs, imported round cabbage, garlic, fish, prawn and pork.
