SIBU: The newly elected committee of Sibu Division Lawn Tennis Association (SDLTA) under its president Michael Lau Chai Hing will start their term with a junior programme called `Serve First’.

It is to be conducted by a national coach in March for primary school pupils with similar programmes for secondary school students and adult beginners later.

Speaking at the association’s annual general meeting last weekend, Lau said the immediate goal of the association is to start an aggressive recruitment of members and potential players.

He admitted that they have not been able to produce good players all these years due to the lack of interest in the sport among the youngsters.

He also said the membership recruitment drive which has been going on for some years has not been satisfactory.

The new committee include Vincent Tang as deputy president, Simon Tiong, Anna Siew and Brandon Wong as the three vice presidents, Marcus Ling as the secretary assisted by Lim Lu Lu, and Wong Yuk King as treasurer assisted by Chris Su.

The two committee members are Hu Kwong Lik and Wong King Hong and another two will be appointed later.
