Revised fees for planted forest timber, transportation

KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari has approved the revised fee for planted forest timber and also transportation fees for Hardwood Timber Sdn Bhd which shall take effect from March 1 this year.

According to a Sarawak Timber Association (STA) statement, the state Forest Department had sent out a circular on the revised fees to all its regional offices in Sarawak.

The excerpt of the circular says the endorsement fee for planted forest has been revised from RM0.50 per cubic metre to RM1.50 per cubic metre and a charge of RM1 per cubic metre shall be imposed on tracking the movement of logs through the issuance of Shipping Pass or Land Transport Pass.

Abang Johari is also Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources.
