Chief Minister and wife on CNY visits in Miri

MIRI: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg attended a Chinese New Year (CNY) open house hosted by Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin here yesterday.

Abang Johari and his wife Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang were accompanied by Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and Assistant Minister of Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil during the visit.

Later in the afternoon, Abang Johari and his entourage visited Shin Yang Group of Companies chairman Tan Sri Datuk Ling Chiong Ho before ending their CNY visit at the residence of Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting.

Other well-wishers included cabinet ministers, senior government officials, business associates, members of various local welfare associations and villagers around the area of Tanjung Lobang, where all three houses are located.

The open house served as an opportunity for all to strengthen the relationship and unity among the various communities here, as well as extending festive greetings to families.

There were lion dance performances, cake-cutting ceremonies, and also the tossing of ‘yee sang’ conducted by the hosts of these open house gatherings.

Sibuti MP Datuk Ahmad Lai, Assistant Minister of Women, Family and Childhood Development Rosey Yunus who is Bekenu assemblywoman, Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat, Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau, Miri Resident Sherrina Hussaini, Miri District Officer Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf and Miri Mayor Adam Yii were among those present during the visits.
