RANAU: A labourer was killed when his friend accidentally shot him with a homemade gun or ‘bakakuk’ at a forest near Kampung Marakau, here on Monday.
Anto Supomo, 33, died of gunshot wounds to his body in the 2.30 am incident.
District police chief DSP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said both men had gone to the forest to hunt deer when the friend accidentally shot the victim.
Following the incident, police detained the 28-year-old suspect and confiscated the bakakuk gun, two bullets and a pallet.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
