KUCHING: The villagers from Kpg Ensenggei in Gedong and the surrounding villages can now look forward to a shorter travel distance to Kuching and Serian soon.

This follows an agreement reached during a meeting between KPF Plantation, a subsidiary company of Felcra, Samarahan Resident Office and Samarahan Public Works Department (JKR), chaired by Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, at his office at Wisma Bapa Malaysia yesterday.

Naroden, who is also Assistant Minister of E-Commerce said the meeting was to seek permission from KPF Plantation, which owns Plantation 2 Samarahan in Samarahan, to use part of the plantation for constructing a road and a bridge.

He pointed out that the road construction will provide a shorter travelling distance and a proper alternative route for the people in nearby areas and the plantation workers, who are mostly locals, to travel to Kuching and Serian.

Naroden, who is Gedong assemblyman thanked the plantation owners for allowing the government to use part of the land for the convenience of the people in the area.

Present were Hamsen Atar from Samarahan Resident Office, Awang Safri Awang Ahmad and Hairulizam Ameran from Felcra, Mohd  Shaiful and Linggie Adis from KPF Plantation and representatives from Public Works Department Samarahan.
