KINABATANGAN: A 56-year-old local Dusun man was believed to have committed suicide, witnessed by his six-year-old child as he jumped off the bridge at Sungai Imbak, Tongod here on Thursday at around 6.50 pm.
Jos Bin Kondomor was found dead at the Imbak River by Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Department on the second day of the search operation yesterday at 6.41am.
A spokesperson from the department said the body of the victim was found floating in the river.
According to Kinabatangan district police chief, Superintendent A. Sahak Rahmat, a police report was lodged about a man jumping off the bridge, witnessed by his child.
The witness however did not know why the victim jumped into the river.
“We are still investigating what caused the victim to jump off the bridge,” Sahak said.
The police, firemen, personnel of Malaysian Civil Defense Force and the villagers were involved in the SAR operation.
