KUALA LUMPUR: The difference in sales prices offered by traders at the “Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat” programme is influenced by various factors, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said.

He said the pricing of goods was not only determined by the cost of transportation but also based on other factors such as locations in urban and rural areas.

“Indeed, the price is different in some places, Prices will differ if we compare at Titiwangsa, Larut or Kemaman, this is caused by logistics and transportation factors.

“Before putting a price, we will also see the average prices offered in certain areas, so we can place lower prices than the local market,” he told reporters  at the Titiwangsa parliamentary-level of the “Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat” programme here today.

To date, 238 of the programme had been carried out nationwide.

Meanwhile, Hamzah said the holding of the programme was proof that the Barisan Nasional (BN) government was always concerned about the issue of rising prices.

“Some say the term BN referred to rising prices (Barang Naik)  but it is incorrect. To me BN stands for building the nation (BIna Negara) as we build the country with the help of the people,” he said. – Bernama
