Tawau school loses classrooms, offices, hall to fire

TAWAU: Fire destroyed two wooden blocks housing classrooms, offices and a hall at SK Sentosa yesterday.

No one was injured in the incident which occurred at around 12.15pm, about one hour after the school day had ended at 11.20am and the pupils and staff had left.

After the fire broke out, pupils of the adjacent SK Batu 4 which is located in front of SK Sentosa, ran for safety, fearing the fire might spread to their school.

A distress call was received by the Fire and Rescue Department’s operation center at 12.28pm and 10 firemen in four vehicles led by operations chief Sharudi Delamin rushed to the scene.

The operation ended at 5.42pm, while the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
