Maspa holds seminar as Dr Ong made advisor

KUCHING: The Malaysian Sports Psychology Association (MASPA) in collaboration with the Sports Centre, University of Malaya (UM) organised a Sports Psychology Seminar at the Sports Centre on Feb 22.

The seminar attracted participants from University of Malaya, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), practitioners and coaches in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Dr Ong Kong Swee, CEO of the Sarawak
Sports Corporation (SSC) has been appointed as advisor for MASPA.

“l am indeed honoured with the appointment as l see it as a commitment by MASPA in advancing the professionalism of sports psychology in Malaysia,” said Ong.

MASPA’s council member Dr Chin Ngien Siong said Dr Ong’s experience and expertise as SSC’s CEO and MSNS’ director will provide a strong voice and advocate for the future development of sports psychology in Malaysia.

MASPA is a registered sports psychology association affiliated to the world sports psychology body, the International Society of Sports Psychology (ISSP) and the Asian South Pacific Association of Sports Psychology (ASPASP).

Furthermore, MASPA is supported by University of Malaya, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Pendidikan Sukan Idris (UPSI), Institute of Teacher Education Tun Abdul Razak Campus (IPGKTAR) and ISN Malaysia.

Among the highlights of MASPA activities this year is the UPSI-MASPA Pre-SUKMA Conference in UPSI which will be held in conjunction with Perak as the host for Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) 2018.
