KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) is in talks with Pakatan Harapan (PH) on working together in the 14th general election (GE14).

Speaking to reporters at the party’s Chinese New Year open house here yesterday, Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said: “I am talking with them, but we have to finalise it. The intention is clear (that) we want to take over the government in Sabah, but to realise that there must be a united vote. And that is why I am talking to them.”

He said the response from PH was positive but there would be some issues to be considered.

“You know we have to make them realise that Sabah’s rights and Sabah’s interest as well as the people must be protected. At the end of the day, they (PH) will form the government in Peninsular Malaysia. But in Sabah, we must make sure that we take control of it,”  he said.

Shafie also pointed out that candidates for GE14 must be able to deliver the seats.

To the question on the role that former Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Datuk VK Liew would have in Warisan, Shafie said: “He (Liew) will have a role to play he is not demanding for a seat but if we offer him a candidacy, I hope he would not say no.”
