Blackcatz bury Skulls in KFRC league opener

KUCHING: The Kuching Rugby Football Club (KFRC) Blackcatz got off to a roaring start in the Kuching Rugby League at Song Kheng Hai Rugby Field on Saturday when they outplayed GB13 Skulls 41-19.

The opening of the league was officiated by the Sarawak Rugby Union (SRU) president Richard Song Swee Jin who was accompanied by Kuching Division Rugby Association (KDRA) president Azizul Annuar Adenan.

Blackcatz shall meet Unimas Lycans in the next match the following Saturday at the same venue.

In last week’s other match, Wolfpack and Warriors Old Boys (WORC) each earned a point after playing to a 10-10 draw.

Two other matches, one between Unimas Lycans and RMP Sarawak and the other between Kenyalang Warriors and UiTM Hunters, were postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.

This Saturday will also see Wolfpack taking on RMP Sarawak and the Kenyalang Warriors against WORC at Muara Tuang Div 1 Camp at 2:30pm and 4:30pm respectively.

The inaugural league is played on every Saturday and ends on Apr 21.

Champions will receive RM2,500, runners-up RM1,000 and third placing RM500.

To be run in league format, the competition will be staged at Song Kheng Hai Rugby Field and First Division Camp rugby field at Muara Tuang.
