KINABATANGAN: A 33-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her 26-year-old niece with a knife for having an affair with her husband
Kinabatangan police chief Superintendent A. Sahak Rahmat confirmed the incident which took place at Pertasa Estate’s workers’ quarters in Jeroco near here on Saturday at around 7.57 am.
Police went to the scene after receiving a report of a fight at the quarters. The suspect was arrested while the victim who was injured was then rushed to the Kinabatangan hospital.
Investigation revealed that the victim was a divorcee with a seven-year-old daughter. The suspect had allegedly attacked the victim with a 30cm knife out of rage when she found out that her niece had a secret relationship with her husband.
The victim was attacked when she was resting in the living room and a physical fight followed, leaving the victim with swollen head and an injured finger, left knee and left thigh.
Sahak said the case was still under investigation under Section 324 of Penal Code, for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means, which carries a maximum punishment of ten years’ imprisonment or with fine or with whipping, or both, upon conviction.
