KUCHING: The Federal Court today ruled that four persons who wished to convert out of Islam should now bring their cases to the Syariah Court.

This ruling is decided unanimously by a panel of five judges and that their rationale was based on settled case law.

It also decided that conventional court has no jurisdiction to hear apostasy (converting out of Islam) cases and only Syariah Court can hear them.

Therefore the four appellants must go back to the Syariah Court to hear their applications for apostasy.

None of the appellants were in court this morning.
