CGC president-CEO named ADFIAP ‘2018 Outstanding CEO’

KUCHING: Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia Bhd’s (CGC) president and chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Mohd Zamree Mohd Ishak has been awarded the ‘2018 Outstanding CEO’ by the Association of Development Financing Institutions in Asia and the Pacific (ADFIAP).

ADFIAP, founded in 1976, is the largest and most prestigious aggrupation of development banks and other financial institutions engaged in the financing of development in the Asia-Pacific region. It counts among its 91 members in 36 countries, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), which is a Special Member of the Association.

The ADB is a founding member of the World Federation of Development Financing Institutions comprising of similar associations in Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, and a non-governmental organization in consultative status with the United Nation’s Economic and Social Council. The permanent secretariat of ADFIAP is based in Manila, Philippines.

The ADFIAP’s ‘2018 Outstanding CEO’ award seeks to recognise dynamic chiefs of development financial institutions (DFIs) who have contributed to the development of their respective organizations in their respective countries.

The award was presented to Zamree at a gala dinner and awards night held in conjunction with ADFIAP’s 41st Annual Meeting on February 20 in New Delhi, which was attended by over 130 delegates from its member institutions.

Zamree bagged the award in recognition of his contribution in championing the national agenda of financial inclusion for SMEs and transformation of CGC via the Five-Year Strategic Plan (2016-2020). Also to his credit was CGC’s success in redefining the SME financing landscape by spearheading Malaysia’s first online SME Financing/Loan referral platform known as imSME.

CGC also scaled new heights and received coveted awards and recognitions. Among others, CGC won the HR Asia Award 2016- Best Companies to Work for in Asia (service category) by MERCER, one of the world’s largest human resource consulting firms and coordinated by HR Asia Magazine.

CGC was bestowed The Brand Laureate Transformational Organisation Brand Award 2015-2016 for its efforts in strengthening the foundation of its brand and improving efficiency.

In December 2016, CGC’s 2015 Annual Report was picked as the “Best Annual Report of Non-Listed Organisations” at the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) ceremony. The award is given to companies that go the extra mile in ensuring greater transparency and accountability for its reporting in their annual reports.

CGC has also won awards from ADFIAP for its forward looking Islamic Wholesale Guarantee (WG-i) scheme in 2015, the Merit Award for its BizWanita-i Financing for Women Entrepreneurs in the Infrastructure Development category and the Best Website in the Special Awards category in 2016, as well as the Merit Award for its Portfolio Guarantee (PG) for Micro Enterprises (financial inclusion category) and Best Annual Report in the Special Awards category in 2017.
