ABB set to deploy full digital portfolio to complement Sarawak’s transformation

KUCHING: Global power player ABB is set to deploy its full digitalisation and e-mobility portfolio to complement Sarawak’s transformation as Malaysia’s rising economic powerhouse.

According to ABB Malaysia Sdn Bhd (ABB Malaysia), Sarawak is set to harness the advantage of disruptive technologies to stamp its mark as Malaysia’s rising economic powerhouse.

“Digitalisation is finding its way into every facet of our existence to create enormous potential in the areas of energy, industry, transport and infrastructure. The right ecosystem, strategies and investment will see a monumental shift, which presents immese opportunities,” ABB Malaysia managing director Jukka Poutanen told The Borneo Post in an interview yesterday.

“Over the past year, we have geared ourselves by strengthening our footprint with a new branch office in Miri, in addition to our exisitng Kuching branch, which was established in the mid-1990s.

“The aim is to provide customers with a lever to raise their efficiency and become more competitive through ABB Ability, our unified, cross-industry digital capability.”

In the energy sector, ABB digital technologies are in the forefront of powerful real-time control systems, digital substations, digital distribution transformers and smart sensors while for industries, ABB’s digitalisation solutions are enabling a quantum leap in efficiency, oversight and control of assets, as well as lower energy consumption and cost.

In promoting growth and expansion of the sustainable transportation sector, ABB is geared towards deploying its full e-mobility portfolio in Sarawak.

“We are optimistic about opportunities in automated fast chargers for electric buses to enable zero emission public transportation in cities like Kuching,” Jukka remarked.

“With our experience, high-quality electric charging systems and cloud-based connected platform through ABB Ability, we look forward to bringing the future of smarter, reliable and emission-free mobility to Sarawak.”

ABB Malayisa head of Sales Jack Kho believed that with its digitalisation capabilities, ABB will be able to assist the state government and agencies here in Sarawak, in areas such as utilities and industries which include food and beverage, cosmetic production, halal food production, and many more.

“For all this, we have solutions and experience in helping the businesses. We hope we can have the chance to get involved here in Sarawak, more extensively,” Jack said.
