‘Commonwealth points of light’ ceremony

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A Bruneian volunteer was awarded the Commonwealth Points of Light from His Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second. Her Majesty The Queen recognised Awang Iqbal bin Awang Damit as the 19th Commonwealth Point of Light in honour of his work mobilising Bruneian contributions for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, brudirect.com reported.

The award was presented to Awang Iqbal on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen by UK High Commissioner in Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Richard Lindsay. Each Commonwealth Point of Light will receive a personalised certificate signed by Her Majesty The Queen as Head of the Commonwealth. In a media conference, His Excellency said, is already an inspiration to others in Brunei, and will now inspire others across the whole of the Commonwealth.
