Borneo cross-country rally to gather 200 local, foreign superbikers

KUCHING: The Sarawak Borneo Cross Country Rally 2018 will gather some 200 local and foreign superbikers, who will traverse across Borneo over the course of 12 days.

The programme, to run from Aug 3 to 14, will be flagged off at Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The riders will then pass through Brunei, Miri, Bintulu and Sibu before stopping here, then later proceed to Pontianak and Sinkawang in Kalimantan before ending the journey back here.

Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah received a courtesy call from the organising committee of Sarawak Borneo Cross Country Rally 2018 yesterday, where the ministry’s assistant secretary (sports section) principal  Zul Usup, HKS marketing manager (Borneo Superbike) and technical partner Kenny Lim Thian Hoe, Brighton Travel & Tour managing director Wilson Chiam Tak Chee, Unides Event managing director Kho Sze Min and Borneo Post Online head of operations Dorge Rajah were also present.

Other events in the pipeline for the state this year are Sarawak Duathlon and Criterium Race 2018 slated tentatively for Sept 16, and the Land Rover Sarawak 4×4 Rally 2018, scheduled to run from Dec 1 to 8.
