LAHAD DATU: A morning fire destroyed five boats belonging to the General Operations Force (GOF) at the district Marine Force Base, yesterday.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Mohd Afendi K Ramin in a statement said the State operation Centre received a distress call through MERS999 at 11.50 am.
He said a fire engine and EMRS vehicle were deployed to the scene with 12 Fire and Rescue personnel.
“The fire was extinguished at 12.12 pm using foam spray and the operation ended at 12.28 pm.
“Four boats were completely destroyed while another boat suffered ten per cent damage,” he said, adding that no casualty was reported.
He added that the cause of fire and the losses are being investigated.
