SINGAPORE: Sarawak and Singapore this morning signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to pave the way for collaboration in the mobile digital payment platform.
Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who is currently leading a state delegation on a two-day working visit to Singapore witnessed the signing ceremony at leading hotel here.
Also present at the signing ceremony were Singapore Minister In-Charge of Smart Nation Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Sarawak Deputy Chief Ministers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr. James Jemut Masing, Sarawak State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohammad Morshidi Abdul Ghani and Malaysian High Commissioner of Malaysia to Singapore Dato’ Zulkifli Adenan.
SMA was represented by its general manager Dr. Zaidi Razak and Network for Electronic Transfers (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. (Nets) by its Group CEO Jeffrey Goh.
Later, the State Secretary led a team comprising key state government officials and board members of Sarawak Multi-Media Authority (SMA) to attend a briefing at the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry.
In the afternoon Abang Johari paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana at Orchard Road and later had a meeting with Singapore Finance Minister Heng Swee Kiat at his office in High Street.
Abang Johari and his delegation arrived here on Sunday to explore possibilities of collaboration with the Singapore government in areas of digital economy.
