Principal proud to see Science Stream students register full pass in STPM

SARIKEI: All 23 Science Stream students SMK St Anthony here passed all four subjects in their Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination last year.

Met by reporters yesterday, school principal Vincent Liong expressed his pride in seeing that all 23 candidates passed in Additional Mathematics with a record of 3.19 in Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), Pengajian Am (CGPA 3.19) and Chemistry (CGPA 3.06).

Nine candidates who sat for the Physics papers recorded CGPA of 2.41, while the 14 who took Biology passed and recorded CGPA of 3.45, he added.

The school’s top-scorer was Allyssa Lim Jia Hui, scored 4As with CGPA of 4.0. She received RM1,000 as incentive from the school’s parent-teacher association (PTA).

Two other students Wong Chiu Ling and Yii Siew Chee were also given RM500 each by the PTA.

Chiu Ling recorded 3As, 1B+ with CGPA 3.83, while Siew Chee had 2As, 2A- with CGPA 3.75.

“This (STPM 2017 results) set a new record for SMK St Anthony since the introduction of the modular system in 2013. The other STPM 2017 candidates will also receive incentives from the PTA,” said Liong, who did not disclose the amount.

He also said the School Average Grade (GPS) for SMK St Anthony had improved, from 2.89 in 2016 to 3.12 for last year.

The incentives were presented by PTA chairperson Maureen Chua.
