BANJARMASIN, S Kalimantan: The South Kalimantan Police (Polda) have confiscated tens of thousands of illegal cosmetics products. They do not have the authorization from the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and do not include the Bahasa Indonesia labels, AntaranewsKalsel reported.

“Cosmetic products of various types and brands are planned to be sold to cosmetics shops in South Kalimantan,” said Police Chief Brigadier General Rachmat Mulyana in Banjarmasin on Thursday.

Before the fake cosmetics widely circulated in the market, members of Industry, Trade and Investment (Indagsi) Sub-Directorate of South Kalimantan Police Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) managed to uncover it.

“These unlicensed cosmetics were brought by suspect Sy from Jakarta through an expedition service, but with a fake recipient name to trick the officers,” the one-star general said.

However, the team led directly by Head of Subdit I Indagsi Adj Sr Comr (AKBP) H Suyitno Ardhi not fooled. Officers who have conducted surveillance successfully scooped the suspect on Wednesday (7/3) at his home in Jalan Pramuka, East Banjarmasin.

“During the raid, police confiscated 56 kinds of evidence that amounted to tens of thousands of products, such as herbal soap, lipstick, face bleach cream, mascara, and so on,” said Police Chief accompanied by Deputy Director of Ditreskrimsus Adj Sr Comr Sugeng Riyadi.

Police Chief also ordered his subordinates to continue to develop the case to be caught on the goods sender in Jakarta.

To the community, he again reminded to be wary of fake products, such as cosmetics, let alone sold cheaply.
