KOTA KINABALU: Two Filipinas and a Filipino were each jailed for eight months by the Sessions Court here yesterday for possessing a fake endorsement in their IMM13 documents.

Judge Azreena Aziz handed down the sentence on Hanadie Asmanil, 22, Rawana Jajihim, 21, and Azuan Talip, 23, after they admitted to a separate charge under Section 56 (1)(l) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963.

The indictment carries a fine of up to RM10,000 or a maximum five years in jail or to both, upon conviction.

They had used the IMM13 document with a fake endorsement at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport here at 6.30pm on February 5.

In mitigation, the accused, who were represented, prayed for a fine to be imposed against them as they wanted to go back to their country as soon as possible.

They told the court that they have children to support and Rawana also informed the court that she is a single mother.

Meanwhile, prosecuting officer Inspector Albert Basiri requested for a deterrent sentence to be imposed against the accused.

The court also ordered for the jail sentence to take effect from their date of arrest.
