Miri FA join Tawau in national-level LBR last eight

KUCHING: Miri FA joined Tawau in the quarter-finals of the national-level Liga Bolasepak Rakyat (LBR) 2017-2018 after defeating Keningau 3-1 yesterday.

The northern side wasted no time taking control by scoring an early goal in the third minute through prolific striker Mohd Hadera Bakeri.

The hosts managed to equalise through a penalty shot in the 39th minute, but Mohd Nur Arshad Tamit put Miri back in the lead six minutes later.

Miri, under coach Mohd Hakimi Man, stepped up attack in the second half and Hadera once again found the net to complete a brace and seal a 3-1 win for the team.

In another match at the Stadium Negeri yesterday, Kuching Gedong-Gators managed to overcome group winners Tawau with the same scoreline.

However, they failed to advance after finishing third with nine points, one point behind Miri.

Miri will host Kelantan’s Rantau Panjang in the first leg on March 24 at Padang KRP, Lutong from 4.15pm.

Meanwhile, Tawau FA will travel to Perak to face Ipoh FA at on the same day.
