RM68 mln Sabah Syariah Court a state landmark – CM

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman said the Sabah Syariah Court expected to be completed in May 2020 would be a state landmark.

“I am pleased to see that the construction of our Syariah Court building has started. We have been waiting for so long for this.

“I would like to thank the federal government, especially Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom for their efforts in making sure that we would get the allocation for it.

“This is how the Barisan Nasional government works in order to bring development to the state,” he told reporters this after his short visit to the construction site at Likas Bay here yesterday.

He also praised Sabah Public Works Department (PWD) for their effort to speed up the long awaited complex.

Meanwhile, Sabah PWD project leader Liaw Vui Phing said his team was confident of completing the project, costing RM67.86 million, according to schedule in 30 months.

He said the project, sited on about two hectares (4,999 acres) commenced on Nov 9, last year.

Also present yesterday was Public Works Department Director Datuk Haji Amrullah Kamal.
