MIRI: Children aged between seven and 12 here are invited to participate in the Milo 2018 Futsal Champion Clinic and they will also stand a chance to attend a training stint at Camp Nou, home of Spanish football giants Barcelona FC.

According to head coach Elizabeth Oyau, the futsal clinic is limited to 30 participants and only one would be chosen for the Camp Nou training programme.

The selected participant will join 18 others from throughout the country for the one-week professional training in Barcelona, which is fully sponsored by Milo Malaysia.

“This is an opportunity of a lifetime for the participants,” said the former national SEA Games footballer.

“We believe that if these kids are trained at a young age, they can become top futsal players and perhaps don the national colours in the future,” she added.

The training programme at Camp Nou will include classroom sessions and museum visits, city tour, Escola football clinic, and interactions with FC Barcelona coaches and teams from Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Colombia.

The Milo Futsal Champions Clinic will be held on March 31-April 1, April 7-8, April 14-15 and April 21-22.

Entry fee is RM120 each and they will receive two Milo shirts, Milo drinks, certificate of participation and souvenirs.

“During the clinic, they will learn basic skills such as ball control, delivery and strategy,” Elizabeth said.

The syllabus for the clinic is provided by Malaysia National Futsal head coach Chiew Chung Yong while the learning and training sessions will be held at King Sport Centre Senadin from 9am to 12 noon.
