SARIKEI: Disbursement of 1Malaysia People Assistance (BR1M) reflects the sincerity of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government led by Prime Minister Datuk Sri Najib Tun Razak in looking after the welfare of the people.
Hence, the people should be thankful to the BN government for according due attention in ensuring the welfare of the people is taken care of, said Repok assemblyman Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii when presenting BR1M vouchers to recipients in Sarikei Parliamentary constituency at Sri Nyelong here yesterday.
Huang reiterated that the main objective of BR1M was to help alleviate the hardship experienced by the people due to high cost of living.
Apart from BR1M, the government also introduced other measures to help the people cope with the high cost of living, he said, adding, such initiatives included the ‘ Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat’ in collaboration with supermarkets and setting up of 1Malaysia Shops (Kedai Rakyat 1Malysia).
According to him, a total of 1,000 BR1M recipients from Sarikei received their payment vouchers this year. A total of 647 received their vouchers yesterday while 353 others who live outside Sarikei would have their vouchers delivered through the nearest district office.
Among those present were acting Sarikei District Officer Badjuri Bidin, Temenggong Frederick Wong, heads of departments and local community leaders.
