KENINGAU: Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman said the Yayasan Sabah had produced thousands of human capital making up of the state’s local people who have succeeded since its inception 52 years ago.
He said that at present there are lawyers, engineers, accountants and other professions who have benefited from Yayasan Sabah programs.
“We have proven the noble efforts and functions of the Yayasan Sabah so far since it was established in 1966 by the late Tun Datu Mustapha Harun to provide opportunities for our children to study at institutions of higher learning, both locally and abroad,” he said in his speech when launching the Northern Interior Yayasan Sabah Bersama Rakyat Roadshow here yesterday.
Musa, who is also Chairman of the Yayasan Sabah Board of Trustees, said the government through the Yayasan Sabah also provided scholarships to young people to continue their education to the highest level.
He said this was the government’s effort to create more successful human capital that could be an asset to the state and the country.
“I ask the young people to seize the opportunities provided by the government through the Yayasan Sabah. The government is always aware that it is good for us to make sure our human capital is successful,” he said this during the three-day program.
Various events were held for the convenience of residents in the Northern Interior including Keningau, Tambunan, Nabawan and Tenom.
He said it included exhibitions and sales, entrepreneurship, career exhibition by state and federal government agencies as well as entertainment and competition events.
According to him, a total of 500 jobs were offered by the Labor Department in conjunction with the roadshow which provided opportunities for local youth to graduate from the Institute of Higher Education, Colleges and schools in the district to get a job.
“Most importantly, they must be willing to work so that they can succeed and get a job,” he said.
Musa said in conjunction with the program, the state government together with the federal government also provided assistance in terms of training and funds through Teraju where it would sponsor traders and entrepreneurs to trade.
He said this was the government’s effort to help and defend the people who needed aid.
“When I became Chief Minister, I emphasized on important sectors and have potential in agriculture, tourism and manufacturing sectors as well as human capital development sector,” he said.
Musa also congratulated all schools participating in the longest Batik made for the Malaysia Book of Records.
He said “Sabah Boleh!” “Keningau Boleh!” for the people’s willingness and endeavor and with all the cooperation they achieved success.
According to him, as the Barisan Nasional (BN) government is not a government that sits silently but is always working hard, going down to the ground to meet the people, and this is the BN government.
“This is how we administer the state, we go down to the ground to meet the people and help solve the problems of the people.
“It is now the turn of the Northern Interior Yayasan Sabah with state and federal government agencies to come down to meet the people, giving people the exposure and awareness of the opportunities available and should be seized by the people,” he said.
According to him, Northern Interior was the fifth place of this roadshow and was held in Keningau district with the pure intention of Yayasan Sabah bringing together the state and federal government agencies to assist local communities throughout Sabah.
He said the program could provide exposure and awareness to the public that state and federal government agencies were always ready to provide the best services for the people in the state including in the northern interior.
In addition, he said there were also mobile registration services and mobile courts.
Musa said the program was to inform the community about the career opportunities that existed through the implementation of various types of programs besides giving exposure to the local community on opportunities in entrepreneurship.
In addition, he said, giving leaders the opportunity to interact with local communities, strengthening unity among the people through the implementation of various programs in an integrated manner.
He said the program was also very good at conveying information on government development plans to the people and strengthening collaborative networks between state and federal government departments and agencies.
Musa also reminded the people not to be easily influenced, deceived by the opposition that only appeared during the election season.
“Do not believe the propaganda disseminated by the opposition because it’s like ‘masuk angin keluar asap’.
“What is important is that we know and are responsible for our children in getting the best education and getting a job and succeeding in their careers,” he said.
