KUCHING: Twenty start-ups are participating in Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Bumiputera Sarawak’s (Tegas) first Pre-Accelerator Bootcamp.

Powered by the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (Magic), the two-week programme, which started on Sunday, is designed to help budding entrepreneurs start their businesses from having validated ideas into creating a minimum viable product.

“We’re really excited to collaborate with Magic on this. This could be a great springboard for early stage start-ups in Sarawak to fine-tune their innovative and impactful ideas further before going into the market. This initiative is in line with the state’s agenda to nurture talents and subsequently drive the state’s digital economy,” said Tegas chairman Datu Len Talif Salleh, who is Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, in a press release yesterday.

Participants consist of selected aspiring entrepreneurs, Shell Livewire Sarawak winners, and top three winners of Startup Weekend Sarawak and Hackweekend Kuching.

They will build on their validated ideas to create successful start-ups.

Industry experts will cover topics such as customer and product development, building teams, fundraising, and pitching.

Programme winners will receive a one-year hot desk @ Tegas Digital Innovation Hub, a chance to participate in Tegas Startup Lab (incubation programme), and green lane to pitch for Magic’s Global Accelerator Programme (Gap) in Cyberjaya.

The Demo Day on April 7 will be the highlight, where 15 top start-ups will pitch to potential investors, funding agencies, strategic partners, and government leaders.

The participating start-ups are Trifold Enterprise, Codelab Academy, Thirst Milkshake, Canard Restaurant, Wangi Lai PLT, Traver Technologies, Teech, Menur, Majoh!, Sluvi, Local Lah?, Food Hero, TRIBE, Sibu Chat, Ask Sifu, Wasgud, Wi-MSS, Team Rocket, Synapse, and You Know Us.
