KUALA LUMPUR: Shell Malaysia says the final investment decision (FID) taken by Sarawak Shell Bhd and its partners on Gorek, Larak and Bakong fields reaffirms the company’s commitment to develop Sarawak basin and secures a clean energy source for Malaysia’s future.

In a statement yesterday, the company said Sarawak Shell, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd and Sapura Exploration and Production (Sarawak) Inc (Sapura E&P) had taken the FID on the Gorek, Larak and Bakong fields in the SK408 Production Sharing Contract offshore Sarawak.

“With this, there has been 12 important gas discoveries in Sarawak by Shell and its equity partners over the past five years,” said Shell Malaysia chairman Datuk Iain Lo.

The fields will be developed as three separate wellhead platforms tied back to the existing Sarawak Shell operated F6 processing facility. — Bernama
