KOTA KINABALU: DAP Sabah confirms Kota Kinabalu and Sri Tanjong candidate switcheroo for the 14th general election (GE14) here today.

Former Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament (MP) Jimmy Wong Sze Phin and previous Sri Tanjong state assemblyman Chan Foong Hin officially swapped constituency areas after months of speculation.

In recent months, it was said that Jimmy wished to “balik kampung” (back to hometown) and contest again for the Sri Tanjong state seat.

The DAP Sabah Advisor became the only opposition representative at Dewan after winning the Sri Tanjong seat with 5,359 votes, beating PBS and PKR candidates with a majority of 1,172 in GE12.

He then contested and won the Kota Kinabalu Parliamentary seat with an 18,959 majority in GE13.

Meanwhile, Chan took over and contested for the Sri Tanjong state seat and won 10,948 votes, majority 5927, in GE13.

The DAP Sabah Secretary had shared that he was supposed to contest for the Kota Kinabalu Parliament seat, but the leadership had made the decision for Jimmy to do so instead for GE13.

It was said that this could be Jimmy’s last GE participation.
