Businessman, student claim trial to cheating

KOTA KINABALU: A businessman and a student claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court here today to three counts of inducing three young men to register a cellphone package at a telco company.

Aries Ryan Philip Among, 24, and Mohamad Ashraf Edy Nasrin, 20, were brought before magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus and jointly charged under Section 417 of the Penal Code.

The indictment carries a jail term of up to five years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.

The first to the third charges alleged that both the unrepresented accused cheated the three men, all 20 years old, by inducing them to register for the First Gold 80 cellphone package and causing them to lose RM862.90,

RM1,363.95 and RM1392.55 respectively at the telco company office at the 1Borneo hypermall at Jalan Sulaman here at 5pm on October 31, 2017.

The court fixed May 17 for their case management and were released on RM3,000 bail each for all the charges with two local sureties.
