BINTULU: A human foetus was found inside a dustbin at the sewage treatment plant along Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi here yesterday.
District police chief Supt Zulkipli Suhaili, when contacted, confirmed that the male foetus was found by a member of the public.
“Policemen were dispatched to the scene to recover the foetus, being notified of the discovery at 9.50am. The foetus has been sent to Bintulu Hospital for post-mortem,” he said.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealing birth, which carries two years’ imprisonment or a fine, or both upon conviction. Zulkipli also urged anyone with information on the foetus-dumping incident to assist in the investigation.
