BN still voters’ choice in Paginatan

RANAU: Barisan Nasional (BN) is still the people’s choice for the Paginatan state seat because voters there feel the coalition can continue to champion their interests and welfare after the 14th General Election.

The people in the area also want BN to choose the right candidate for the seat, namely someone with the credibility to take on the responsibility of continuing the BN legacy with various new development plans for the benefit of the people.

Private sector worker, Addy Julah, 24, said the BN candidate for the seat should also apply the best practices of a good leader and always go down to visit the locals.

“The legacy of BN’s leadership in Paginatan should be continued. We can see that there is development brought (by BN) including in terms of school infrastructure as well as welfare assistance given to target groups such as single mothers in this constituency.

“We can also see the work done by the (BN) leaders who are always coming down to meet the people. Therefore, BN needs to be retained,” he said when met by Bernama here, today.

Paginatan state seat incumbent Datuk Siringan Gubat, who was also Sabah Resource Development and Information Technology Minister, died last month due to heart complications while receiving treatment at a private hospital in the state capital.

Siringan won the Paginatan seat in 2013, defeating a candidate from PKR with a majority of 979 votes.

Meanwhile, another voter, Majais Gasial, 62, said the people of Paginatan were still strongly supportive of BN, and he personally wanted BN to continue to represent the people’s voice in the area.

“BN is still strong and there is hope (to win) here,” he said, adding he hoped BN leaders would continue to focus on the needs of rural people, such as in Paginatan.

Trader Rusneh Sogidon, 59, also clearly stated his support for BN and hoped the coalition would win GE14 and continue to administer the country.

BN had the ability to improve the country’s economic standing as well as to ensure a brighter and more stable future for the country, he added. -BERNAMA
